Passion, perseverance, determined to not only set goals but reach them. You see mother’s have dreams too and they do come true but just differently. Mothers work hard putting their children’s needs first, loving them, caring for them and making sure they are set.
Being the youngest, I have watched my mother give up a lot for others. Time and time again she has put her dreams on the shelf just make sure the people that she loves and care fore are safe or felt enough. A kind heart and a beautiful soul. Now, that I am older, I refuse to let my mother keep putting her dreams on the shelf. She deserves the best just like everyone else. She loves quilting and she is very good at it. She’s always wanted to master the art of quilting and everything related to it.
My mother and I are honest with each other about everything, we want the best for each other. She told me that she wanted a long-arm quilting machine, I will admit, I was a little hesitant at first. But when I saw her eyes light up when seeing in store, all hesitation went away. I told myself “this is something she wants and I am willing to be happy for her because it’s something she deserves.”
I told her I was proud of her. I told her that because she never gave up on her dreams and she knew what she wanted. I had a pleasure to be there with her.
Now every time I walk pass the long-arm machine I think “yeah, my mother has grit.” Her sister, my aunt has given her her very own sign with her name on it. It is magical.
